Are you an aspiring entrepreneur looking to launch your own wellness venture? Or perhaps you're a small business owner aiming to enhance your managerial or financial skills and increase your customer base. The new Wellness Business Operations Specialist (WBOS)TM micro-credential at American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) is designed specifically to provide essential insight into launching, managing, and growing a business in the wellness field.
Starting and running a business in any industry comes with many challenges, and it's important to arm yourself with the knowledge of current industry trends and best practices. There are many advantages to learning and implementing the fundamentals of business operations in the wellness space. A Forbes article from March of 2023 states that “building your own practice may allow you to have more of a direct impact on the health and wellness of your clients compared to more traditional healthcare roles.” There is often more “freedom to choose your clientele and create programs that meet their specific needs.” Knowing how to better create and sell your own product can lead to a more personalized and satisfying career.
In the ACHS Wellness Business Operations Specialist™ program, you’ll become equipped with essential skills for success in the dynamic wellness industry. This self-paced micro-credential program consists of six courses that will be released individually from April through September of 2024. You'll be guided through the process of setting up and managing a wellness business. Key learning areas include defining your purpose, understanding small business operations, fundamentals of financial management and human resources, and effective marketing. You'll also gain insights into good manufacturing practices (GMP) and production considerations for natural products.
ACHS President Tracey Abell shares: “Holistic wellness and healthcare professionals bring tremendous passion and expertise to their mission to help others, yet they may encounter a gap in essential business skills required to run a wellness business. ACHS's innovative Wellness Business Operations Specialist™ micro-credential serves as a vital bridge to integrate holistic health knowledge with essential business skills and resources. This training can be applied in diverse wellness settings from a private practice, clinic, or wellness spa to a corporation or non-profit organization.”
Students will be awarded a digital badge upon completing each course module that can be displayed via LinkedIn, on your resume, and in your emails. Upon completing the program, students receive the Wellness Business Operations Specialist™ micro-credential badge. ACHS badges are verified competencies and allow your colleagues, clients, and employers to validate your skills in Canvas Credentials' database of credentials.
