    Hill Taylor, Chief Academic Officer, BA, MA, MBA, MSLs, PhD

    Hill comes to ACHS from Oregon Health & Science University, where he served as Director of the Office of Learning Support for seven years, and led OHSU WRITEs, a core OHSU Interprofessional Initiative. Hill’s professional experience is extensive and diverse. He holds over 20 years of experience teaching traditional, hybrid, and online courses in the health sciences, humanities, and social sciences in myriad settings, including universities, colleges, and community colleges. His research focuses on applications of poetry in creative and therapeutic contexts, and multimodal journaling for mindfulness-based reflection, particularly within the health sciences. Dr. Taylor applies tenets of ecopsychology as a means for mindfulness-based student reflection and impetus for composition. Hill earned a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Masters degrees at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington; and a Bachelor’s degree at North Carolina State University. Dr. Taylor is also an active member with various professional organizations, including the Western Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, American Public Health Association, and National Council of Teachers of English. Hill is an avid surfer and paddleboarder year-round. During the winter months, he also can be found snowboarding on Mt. Hood. Hill and his wife, son, and chocolate lab identify nature as the organizing principal of their lives, and actively live the mantra “follow your bliss.”
