Buy the Book: A Guide to Purchasing Your ACHS Textbooks

Written by American College of Healthcare Sciences | Aug 7, 2024 5:03:00 PM

Paying for college textbooks is often an unexpected and significant expense for students. Here’s a comprehensive guide to navigating this essential aspect of your academic journey at ACHS, ensuring you’re well-prepared without breaking the bank.

Understanding the Costs

Textbooks are a necessary expense in college, but at ACHS, we strive to keep these costs as low as possible. Many of our textbooks are available in digital format, significantly reducing expenses. Students have the option to access the downloadable textbook, or they can purchase the hard copy if preferred. These options allow students to learn in whatever manner works best for them.

What truly sets ACHS apart is our unique course kits offered with many of our programs, providing students with hands-on, experiential learning opportunities that enhance their educational experience. For instance, herbal courses require herb samples, and aromatherapy courses require essential oils. The cost of these kits is included in the course price and a general listing of costs by course can be found here. Detailed information regarding textbook and course materials is also accessible within each course description.

Where to Buy Your Textbooks

At ACHS, students have options when it comes to purchasing their textbooks. The college utilizes both publisher textbooks, available from various retailers, and ACHS-published textbooks, which are exclusively available through the college. ACHS textbooks are published by the institution and are designed to further your learning with accessible research summaries, practical applications, and integrative health perspectives to promote whole health. You can view a detailed list of required textbooks for each ACHS course in this chart. Required textbooks are included in the total course price and are shipped automatically to students upon registration processing unless students indicate an alternate textbook option. One benefit of obtaining textbooks from ACHS is the confidence that you'll always have the correct edition with access to all digital resources. ACHS recommends students purchasing their own books pay special attention to the ISBN and check the edition as well as access to digital resources that may be required to complete the course.

For commercial textbooks, we recommend purchasing from TextbookRentals, Amazon, or Chegg.

Embracing Sustainability

In line with our commitment to sustainability, ACHS offers digital versions of many textbooks. Opting for digital books reduces the ecological footprint by minimizing paper usage. For courses utilizing ACHS textbooks, all students receive an eTextbook (Green Option) as part of the mandatory course fees (course pack), accessible in the online classroom on the first day of class. The eTextbooks are sustainable, full-color, interactive, and downloadable. An optional printed copy is available for an additional fee.
