Pictured: "Advice from Holistic Health Business Owners and Entrepreneurs" webinar panelists
Many of our students and alumni are making a difference in their communities as the owners of thriving holistic health businesses. In our last webinar, we spoke to four amazing women who studied or are studying at ACHS and are also successful business owners. You can watch the webinar recording to learn about their experiences running their businesses, but here I just want to share each of their final takeaways that really stuck with me. This advice is helpful for anyone who dreams of opening their own business or is already in the process.
Below, each of our panelists share their key takeaway and traits that lead to success for business owners and entrepreneurs.
1. Be Resilient and Adaptable
"There are no failures. There's only learning. So remember the word resilience," says ACHS MS in Aromatherapy graduate student Jennifer Langsdale. "Anytime you're having a rough time, just remember - adapt to the times. As you can see, it's been a big year for change. We've all had to adapt. Just be as adaptable and as positive as you can."
Jennifer is the founder of Awaken Yoga Studio, and has also recently started an aromatherapy business, Heaven & Earth Aromatherapy.
2. Find Your Passion
"I would say, make sure what you go into is your passion," says ACHS MS in Holistic Nutrition alumni Cindy Ross. "Because it's everything when starting a business, make sure it's your passion because you're going to be married to it, you're going to miss weekends, you're going to miss holidays. You know, all I can say is I'm so thankful that I found my passion in life. They always say if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. So make sure you enjoy the journey!"
Cindy is the owner of multiple businesses, including Life Wellness Forever and Socialize Your Bizness.
3. Never Stop Learning
"Make sure you never stop learning," says Lindsay Little, MS in Holistic Nutrition alumni and owner of Full Bloom Acres. "Be a lifelong learner. There's so many amazing resources out there with free or minimal cost. Look at it as an investment in yourself and in the business if it does cost a little bit of money, but there's so many free resources out there. It's really great to see the variety of the content and the advice out there, and follow the people that you admire."
4. You Get Out What You Put In
"What you put into it is what you get out of it," says Khetnu Nefer, who received her Diploma in Holistic Health Practice from ACHS. "That that's the reciprocal energy of the universe. And that goes with anything that you're doing. So know that if you are trying to start to change your business- that's what you're going to get. Just your intention and everything is going to really shift that for you. It may not be overnight, but with time, you will see the results.
Khetnu is the owner of A Soulful Touch Wellness and creator of the "28 Days To A Soulful Life Guided Journal".
