ASEP Scholarship recipient, Krysta Merrill, discusses celebrating small victories in her complementary medicine (CAM) program.

ACHS is continuing the theme of celebrating our students by introducing you to Krysta Merrill, an  scholarshipACHS Adult Skills Education Program Scholarship (ASEP) recipient for June 2013. You can learn more about this scholarship (partnered with Imagine America) in our earlier blog posts or by visiting the ACHS scholarship page. Krysta is pursuing an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Complementary Alternative Medicine, and she has some great advice for prospective and future students on how to stay on track and accomplish academic goals.

Q: Tell me why you chose ACHS for your accredited holistic health degree?

A: I felt immediately drawn to the foundational goals and standards of ACHS and I just knew it was the right program for the direction I wanted to go in my education and professional future.

Q: What do you like most about your Associate of Applied Science in CAM program?

A: I like that there is a dynamic between alternative holistic views partnering with the traditional medicine and preventative healthcare. A marrying of the two perspectives to work together for the common good is how I would sum it up in my opinion.

Q: What do you enjoy most about studying online with ACHS?

A: I work full time in a medical office, and I’m able to gain experience and knowledge through studying and seeing first hand the positive outcome and results of what I am studying and pursuing.

Q: Do you have any tips for success for prospective students who are thinking about getting started?

A: Remain dedicated and diligent in studies. Maintain goals and celebrate achievements—even small ones. Know that the outcome will produce positive results and a solid building block for the future.

Q: What advice do you have for current students who may be struggling in their studies?

A: Keep on keeping on. I have been in that same place, and I took it one thing at a time and always made it a point to recognize the victories and believe that the hard work would pay off in the long-term.

Q: How does this scholarship help you achieve your goals?

A: I would not have been able to finish had I not had that assistance, so I am so very grateful and will finish strong and move on to achieve my future goals to help others be successful and educated to maintain their own healthy lifestyles and set a positive foundation for others along the way.

Student success is a top priority here at ACHS, so it’s exciting to watch a student like Krysta accomplish her goals in the Associate of Applied Science in CAM program. Keep on keepin' on, Krysta!
