Deyanira López Galán transitioned from medical doctor in Mexico City to holistic health expert in the US, blending modern medicine with herbal practices.

From Doctor to Herbalist

Deyanira López Galán is a trained medical doctor from Mexico City, Mexico, and she has always enjoyed helping people. She says, “Since I was little, I have always wanted to work with people to make them feel better, and I think that is why I wanted to be a doctor. I chose medical school, and I was able to be a doctor, but I never thought I would leave my country and endure a rough path.”

Deyanira enrolled in American College of Healthcare Sciences’ Master of Science in Herbal Medicine program after relocating to the United States with the goal of continuing her career in healthcare. She recalls, “Coming to this country, I faced many challenges, and the hardest one was losing my dream of being a doctor. I decided to put my kids first as we suffered from some loss in our lives.” This hardship was fuel on her fire to serve her community and blend her medical experience with her knowledge of ancient practices using herbs.
